Abstract

This article examines the intersections of audience engagement, documentary-based narrative, and literary adaptation within the contemporary Barcelona theatre scene as observed in May 2022. By analyzing selected productions, including La Cubana’s interactive Adieu Arturo/Goodbye Arturo and Josep Maria Miró’s adaptation of David Vilaseca’s Els homes i les dies, the study explores how Catalan stage practitioners navigate the boundaries between performer and spectator. The discussion highlights the strategic use of memory and biographical documentation to bridge personal experience with collective theatrical performance, ultimately reflecting on the evolution of staging techniques in the post-pandemic landscape.
